An hour and a half's drive from Munich takes us to picturesque Marktschellenberg, the starting point of a journey to one of Bavaria's most beautiful natural jewels: the Almbachklamm gorge. At the entrance, we are greeted by Germany's oldest ball mill dating back to 1683, which still uses water power to produce artistic marbles from precious Untersberg marble. A fascinating craft that symbolizes the connection between man and nature and awakens a deep reverence for traditional values. From here, a well-maintained path leads us through breathtaking scenery: In around two to three hours, we cross the gorge on safe footbridges and bridges, climb over 320 steps and feel the power of the wild waterfalls that flow into crystal-clear, turquoise-blue pools. Here, nature tells stories from times long past as we discover the beauty and purity of the mountain world step by step After about three kilometers, we reach the historic Theresienklause, an old dam from the 19th century, once built to drift wood and today a place that gives you moments of quiet contemplation. From here, a beautiful path leads on to Ettenberg, where the picturesque pilgrimage church of the Visitation of Mary awaits. Here you have a fantastic view over the Berchtesgadener Land and can recharge your batteries and perhaps enjoy a well-earned break in the sun.
