Description

The Holy Roman Empire of German Countries had its fundament in a strong movement from Rome with the support of the church. Bavaria is the only one state in Germany that stands with Catholicism, even with the 30-year war and other events. The strong roots of the church have influenced our beer history, food and political development. In this tour, we bring you through the major churches and some secret churches around the city, explaining how our relationship with religion developed our city. Not many know, that the church here is more a political force than an organisation of faith. They took over the beer business and splitted the city in many congregations. One line in the middle of the city shows how Benedictines and Jesuits fought against each other to reach the maximum power on the side of our dukes. The fascinating development of this side of history is a good example, how the History of Europe was formed. We start the tour at Karlstor and follow for 90 till 120 minutes through the city visiting many churches on the way. Follow with us the signs of the Mary cult and more.
