Description
On the way to Weltenburg Abbey we make a stop at the Liberation Hall in Kelheim, an impressive 19th-century structure commemorating the liberation of Bavaria in 1815. Inside the monumental building there are 18 goddesses of victory who honor Napoleon's liberation. You can explore the Liberation Hall and its impressive architecture at your own pace (tickets available for an additional fee). Additional you have the opportunity to enjoy the view of the Danube and the surrounding region. The Weltenburg Monastery, located directly at the Danube Gorge, is known for its impressive baroque Asam Church and its famous beer. Founded in 610, it is the oldest monastery brewery in the world. Here you have the opportunity to visit the church and taste the beer in the monastery brewery. Our tour is accompanied by a local guide who will give you interesting information about the region and the places visited during the journey.
