Discover the world of cinema at Bavaria Filmstadt, located in Geiselgasteig, Munich. This guided tour provides access to one of Europe’s most important media locations where productions have been made since 1919.
The tour covers over a century of film history, from early silent films to international blockbusters and cult TV series. You will learn about the people and stories behind German and global cinema.
Highlights include the original set from the film Das Kanu des Manitu, awarded the Bavarian Film Prize 2025, and the iconic submarine set from the 1981 film Das Boot by Wolfgang Petersen. Visitors can also enter the cave set where Abahachi and Ranger face challenges, and explore the office and interrogation room from the cult series Die Rosenheim-Cops, where you can perform and film your own scenes.
The tour features fantasy and science fiction sets like Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and the space station from the 2021 film Stowaway. Interactive stations include Elyas M’Barek’s classroom from Fack ju Göhte and a VFX studio where you can try special effects and purchase digital souvenirs.
The backlot street has been redesigned to resemble Hamburg’s Reeperbahn in the 1980s for the Amazon Prime series Luden, complete with clubs and neon lighting.
