Step inside 'Eisbach Treasures' at Munich’s Haus der Kunst on a personal guided tour led by its creator, Tao Schirrmacher; Artist, Eisbach diver, and longtime river surfer/3 times champion. Go beyond the exhibition labels and discover the real finds, people, and ideas that shaped the project.
The story begins with a single object: a Bulgari gold ring Tao recovered from the Eisbach in 2008. This discovery became the starting point for years of diving and an extraordinary archive of rings, watches, smartphones, cameras, GoPros, and other personal belongings swept away by the river.
As you move through the exhibition, hear how selected objects were found, what clues they hold about their former owners, and why certain pieces became central to the project. Rather than seeing them simply as lost property, encounter them as fragments of real lives objects charged with memory, emotion, material value, and unanswered questions.
Discover how these finds developed into an artistic project through research, design, photography, film, and storytelling. Tao shares insights into his creative process, along with personal stories and details that cannot be found on the exhibition labels.
