Description
On March 22, 1933, the Nazis opened Dachau, the first state concentration camp. Today, it serves as a memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives, providing education and space for reflection.
Your guide will meet you at 09:00 AM in front of the tourist information center at Marienplatz in central Munich. They will arrange your local train tickets for the journey to Dachau, a former ninth-century town located 10 miles northwest of Munich. A short bus ride follows, tracing the route prisoners once took, leading you to the memorial site.
The guide will escort you through the camp, providing detailed, objective information about the victims, survivors, and perpetrators. The tour encourages questions and discussion to help visitors thoughtfully process the experience. Individual prisoner stories are shared, along with an examination of the SS perpetrators to understand their roles and actions.
After the guided part, you will have time to explore the museum exhibit independently for deeper reflection. The guide will then accompany you back to Munich Marienplatz, or you may choose to disembark at the main station for convenience.
