Description
Depart from Munich and travel along scenic roads in the German Alps to Berchtesgaden. A special bus will take you to the Eagle’s Nest entrance, where you will ride an elevator bored through a rock tunnel to reach the mountain peak and the Eagle’s Nest building.
Explore the site independently, enjoying views over the Alps. The lower rooms are accessible with an English-speaking guide and provide insights into the site’s history through plate-glass windows. Notable features include graffiti left by Allied troops in the woodwork and a large fireplace damaged by soldiers removing marble shards. Hitler’s former study is now a cafeteria storage area.
After visiting Eagle’s Nest, enjoy additional free time at the NS-Documentation-Center in Berchtesgaden before returning to Munich.
