Start your day at 9:00 AM with hotel pick-up in Munich in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan. After a 2-hour drive to Hohenschwangau, begin a scenic hike along the tranquil shores of Lake Alpsee surrounded by alpine scenery.
Within 30 minutes, reach a quiet vantage point to see Neuschwanstein Castle, avoiding the typical crowds. You can pause for photos or, in summer (June - August), enjoy swimming in Lake Alpsee.
The trail continues to a viewpoint overlooking Hohenschwangau Castle, King Ludwig II’s family residence. The path gently climbs through forested hills, offering panoramic views of the valley, Lake Alpsee, and both castles from rarely seen angles.
After approximately 2 hours of easy hiking, arrive at Neuschwanstein Castle. Explore the grounds, visit Marienbrücke (Mary’s Bridge), and appreciate the scenery before joining the official English-guided castle tour at 14:55 (subject to availability) or using an audio-guide in your language.
