Toboggan runs and sledging in Schliersee/Spitzingsee

The Schliersee/Spitzingsee area is approximately 60 km from Munich and is a real paradise for winter sport acitivites. Besides hiking, skiing, cross-country skiing and ice-skating you can find beautiful sledging tails.

Alte Spitzingstraße - Old Spitzingstreet

This trail is called „Alte Spitzingstraße" and is with its 1.5 km length one of the easier sledging-runs.

The approximately 45-minute climb begins in the district Josefstal Neuhaus. The path is relatively short, but well worth a visit and is very suitable for families with children.

The necessary equipment for sledging can be rented locally at the kiosk of the railway station in Schliersee or at the shop "Sport Berauer (Rathausstraße 17
83727 Schliersee, Tel. +49 80 26/60 69-0).

There is no catering available on the trail, but you will find plenty of cafés and restaurant in closby Schliersee.

The start and end points of the trail are reachable by car.

How to get there:

You can take the highway A8 and exit in Weyarn. Then you continue in direction Miesbach – Schliersse. Arrived at Schliersee you turn from the  B307 into Josefsthaler Straße and drive towards the end of the district Neuhaus.

If you want to take the train you have to take the Bayerische Oberlandbahn to „Schliersee" and from there you take the RVO-Bus 9562 to Neuhaus.

 

Obere Firstalm– Upper Firstalm

This trail is 2.5 km long and the climb will take you approximately 30-45 minutes.

 It is suitable for families with children because there are no steep sections or dangerous curves.

Sledges can be rented at the restaurant Obere Firstalm, where you can warm up with a hot drink before you go down again.

If the snow conditions are good,the trail is open daily until 22:00 hrs and people can sledge down with their headlamp.

How to get there:

By Car

Take the highway A8 and take the exit "Weyarn". Then you continue in direction Miesbach – Schliersee and you will reach Spitzingsee. Shortly  you can turn right towards the ski-lift. There is a free parking area.

By Train

If you want to take the train you have to take the Bayerische Oberlandbahn in direction „Schliersee"  to "Fischhausen-Neuhaus.  From there you take the RVO-Bus to "Spitzingsattel .

Untere Firstalm -Lower Firstalm

The starting point is the ski-lift at Spitzingsee. The climb takes about 45 minutes. The track is 1.5 km long and suitable for families with children.

Sledges can be rented from the restaurant Lower Firstalm, Tel 08026/7676.

By Car

You can take the highway A8 and exit in Weyarn. Then you continue in direction Miesbach – Schliersee and you will reach Spitzingsee. Shortly  you can turn right to the ski-lift. There is a free parking area.

By Train

If you want to take the train you have to take the Bayerische Oberlandbahn in direction „Schliersee"  to "Fischhausen-Neuhaus.  From there you take the RVO-Bus to "Spitzingsattel .

Spitzingsee, Rotwandhaus

This 7 km long trail is the place to go for advanced and more adventureous sledgers. Thanks to the high position, the trail has usually good snow-conditions and is well prepared. The trail goes up to 700 meters altitude and there are very fast sections and pretty tight curves. After the approximately 2 hours climb you can enjoy a fantastic view. You can warm up at the cosy "Rotwandhaus" which is offering delicious home-made food.

Sledges can also be rented at "Rotwandhaus". The run down the trail takes approximately 20 minutes.

How to get there:

By Car
You can take the highway A8 and exit in Weyarn. Then you continue in direction Miesbach – Schliersee, then you will reach Spitzingsee. There is a parking area in front of the church.

By Train

If you want to take the train you have to take the Bayerische Oberlandbahn in direction „Schliersee"  to "Fischhausen-Neuhaus.  From there you take the RVO-Bus to "Spitzingkirche".
