The district lies to the north east of Munich and is basically dominated by its skyline. The Hypo Skyscraper with a height of more than 100 metres marks a unique architectural sight. Bogenhausen is also known as one of the prettiest neighbourhoods within Munich as many buildings remain from the "Jugendstil" movement, a late-19th century style of architecture. Therefore the old part of Bogenhausen is a desirable residential district, where Munich´s "high society" appreciates the highest quality housing within the city. One of the most famous former residents is Boris Becker.
