Asam Church
Munich
Walking down the Sendlinger street you should not miss to watch out for the Asam Church (Asamkirche). The beautiful building is located in the middle of this shopping street, just between two houses.
The Asam Church is also called St. Johann Nepomuk Church, because it was dedicated to the Bohemian monk St. John Nepomuk who was known for its noble deeds and who drowned in the Danube.
It has been built in the 18th-century in Baroque and Rococo style by the brothers Cosmas Damian and Egid Quirin Asam.
The interior of the church is a baroque work of art with its frescos and red stucco works. It is recommended to visit the church in the morning hours, because then the light suits the decor most beautiful.
