Frauenkirche - Cathedral of our blessed lady
Munich
Frauenkirche is the landmark of Munich and is also called 'cathedral of our blessed lady'. The cathedral is located in the city center of Munich and was built in 1494. The building was designed in late gothic style and constructed from red brick within only 20 years.
It is Munich`s most impressive landmark and the twin towers with a height of 98 metres shape the skyline of Munich in a special way and unmistakably mark the City`s centre. Even until today, any other building in Munich must not be higher than the Dome´s towers.
A spectacular view of Munich and its surrounding alps can be enjoyed when climbing the south tower of the Frauenkirche.
Inside Frauenkirche Sovereigns from Bavaria’s ruling Wittelsbach Clan are interred, including Emperor Ludwig IV of Bavaria. Do not forget to find out the story about the devil`s foot print which you can find at the entrance of the church.
