Muenchner Stadtmuseum
Munich
The Muenchner Stadtmuseum (Munich City Museum) presents not only the history of the city, but also shows special exhibitions on topics such as the history of international civilization and culture.
The impressive permanent exhibition 'Typically Munich!' covers three floors and shows the culture of the city from the Middle Ages until today.
A highlight of the exhibition are the famous Morris Dancers by Erasmus Grasser.
An important topic of the museum is Munich's development from a municipality, which was historically dominated by the royal court, in the direction of a newly independent and self-confident city.
Furthermore there are various exhibitions on photography, musical instruments, contemporary history (Nationalsocialism in Munich) and puppet theatre as well as showmanship.
On the museum`s homepage you will find more information about the concerts in the auditorium of the gallery for musical instruments, the program of the film museum and details on guided tours.
